I arrived in Dubrovnik from Zagreb, and if you plan to visit and are arriving at Dubrovnik Airport, I recommend organizing your transportation from the airport to your accommodation before arrival. It’s easier, and the drive to Dubrovnik around Old Town is scenic. The Airbnb was located above the Old Town, which provided a great view.

Looking back after a few weeks, and having that time to reflect on this portion of my final trip of the year, Dubrovnik was absolutely a great choice to include. Croatia has been on my list of places to visit for some time, and my days there were blessed with fantastic weather and amazing scenery. I had time to casually explore at my own pace, enjoying the early morning light on some occasions and the sunsets on others.

My trip to Zagreb was one of the most spontaneous location decisions I have made when planning travel. I do not know anyone personally who has even been to the city. I didn’t conduct much research before choosing it, nor did I do much in the period between booking and arriving in Zagreb.

I travelled when I was younger. I took a handful of trips to Montreal, Quebec, to visit my aunt or road trips across the border in Maine with my mother. Growing up in New Brunswick, Canada, cross-border drives were not uncommon. In my teens, I recall driving to Calais, Maine, to purchase CDs and cassettes that were unavailable at home. A fantastic music store just over the border had an incredible selection of hip-hop albums.

I took an overnight flight from Halifax, arriving in Amsterdam early this morning. I have a few hours here before my flight to Zagreb. I’ve been reflecting on my travels lately; it’s only been three months since I returned from Spain, which feels recent, yet here I am, on the move again.

Even though I was glad to get back, once I started going through the images and videos captured in Spain, I realized that I wanted to book something else soon. There is a lot of joy in having something to look forward to, and with this trip scheduled for early September, it would give me a chance to pay for everything over time.

I had the opportunity to explore and photograph Seville and Malaga during my recent travels in June. These two locations are two places I have been looking forward to visiting. Seville has been on my list for a few years now, and Malaga, with its proximity to Seville, was an easy decision to include on this trip.

I chose Malaga as my second destination because I’ve heard it is one of the must-visit cities in Spain. I’ve also seen some photographs from there, and I was excited to have the opportunity to take my own photographs. Additionally, it’s pretty close to Seville, making it easily accessible. It’s just over two hours with one switch in Cordoba. Malaga is situated south of Seville and is located on the Mediterranean Sea.

The south of Spain offers a compelling allure for photographers due to its diverse landscapes, unique architecture, and vibrant colours. When looking at destinations for this June trip, Spain, particularly Seville, was near the top of the list. In June, the south of Spain had a very good chance of having favourable weather for me. That entails plenty of sunshine and hot temperatures.

I’ve been working with Genesis here in Halifax for a few years now, and I’ve photographed almost their entire lineup over that time. This week, I had the opportunity to spend a few days with the 2026 Genesis GV70. The timing worked out perfectly, as the first evening I had it resulted in zero keepers, and I’m fortunate to have had another day with the GV70.
